Ellie J Chun is a Korean artist living in London and working in Surrey, England. Ellie moved to England in the summer of 2012 and since then her paintings have been greatly influenced by the English culture, the people, the landscape and everything that comes with living in, and being part of  London.

The excitement of having a firm release date was brief, but the important thing is that we can all still pre-order The Last of Us 2. The delayed release date of May 29 2020 doesn't feel quite as close as the February date that was temptingly, and briefly, dangled before us after the last state of play announcement, but it's not too much longer to hold out. Generally a few more months can only be a good thing for everyone as it means an even more Naughty Dog-standard finished product and more time for the devs to execute it with as less crunch as possible. Anyway, we'll take it. The State of Play event that came in September presented us with another excellent trailer that has given us excellent footage. This time it blessed us with with more information about what seems to directly happen that kiss, and it really feels like we have a better handle on what's going on in the story. Or at least are in a slightly better position to speculate as to what might happen. Remember, Naughty Dog always have something up their sleeve such is the quality of their storytelling.

However, more importantly - and maybe in an attempt to temper the disappoint of a delay with an injection of excitement - we can now preorder The Last of Us 2 and get back to Ellie and Joel's world as soon as possible and with some extra goodies to boot. There's a whole host of editions available and plenty of us here at GamesRadar+ have already pulled the trigger on one or two. You can see why below, as we've laid out the details on each edition with some advice, below, so you can make the most informed and appropriate decision for you on how to preorder The Last of Us 2.

Get the best Last of Us 2 pre-order deals

The usual retailers are taking The Last of Us 2 pre-orders. Straight off the bat, it's worth noting that if you pre-order any edition of The Last of Us Part II, you’ll receive two in-game bonuses at launch: an Ammo Capacity Upgrade which will grant Ellie more bullets for her pistol, and a Crafting Training Manual bonus that'll provide you with access to new crafting recipes and upgrades.

Just to temper the excitement a little with some relentlessly grown-up advice (I know, I'm sorry), and as an important initial public service announcement, the Ellie Edition looks out of stock or unavailable at the moment - though we would expect this to change soon as it is an absolutely brilliant package. Unfortunately, the other bad-news right now is that pre-order links are a still a little light on options for our UK readers or from UK retailers. We'd except that to change soon too though as more details and information filter down their way over the Atlantic.

If you need a refresh of the story so far, the original game is free to PS Plus members this month.

The Last of Us 2 pre-orders - Ellie Edition

The mother of all pre-orders and probably the best way to celebrate The Last of Us Part II - and Ellie. The Ellie Edition gets you: a full-sized, fully functional recreation of Ellie’s backpack, a beautifully crafted 12” Ellie statue, a life-sized replica of Ellie’s bracelet, a custom SteelBook case, 48-page mini art book from Dark Horse, a set of six enamel pins, lithograph art print, a set of five stickers, an embroidered patch, and a 7” vinyl record featuring music from the original soundtrack.

In terms of digital goods, the Ellie Edition comes with a voucher for a PS4 dynamic theme, a set of six PSN avatars, a digital soundtrack, and a digital version of the mini art book - as well as those general pre-order bonuses we mentioned above. An actual backpack? A quality vinyl soundtrack? A statuette? Artbook, pins and stickers and replica items? These guys get pre-orders and special editions of games.

The bad news for US readers is that some of the major players seem to have run out of stock. The links below will guide you to exactly the right laces and pages but we may see out of stock or coming soon or unavailable placeholders depending on timing and stock levels. It seems to be a bit hit and miss at the moment, but keep checking back with these links.

US Last of Us 2 Ellie Edition pre-order links

There's a bit of bad news just for UK readers: the Ellie edition (still) looks to be a US-only edition, so we've got no UK links for it at the moment. There's no word about it on PlayStation's EU blog either, which makes us believe that might be the case. But, of course, we'll update this page straight away if that changes.

The Last of Us 2 pre-orders - Collector's Edition

For those who can't quite stretch to the Ellie Edition, the Collector's Edition runs a close second and still offers a whole host of goodies. This edition will bag you the 12” Ellie statue, the replica of Ellie’s bracelet, custom SteelBook case, 48-page mini art book from Dark Horse, the six pins, lithograph art print, and a set of five stickers. The Collector’s Edition also comes with the same voucher as the Ellie edition which will bag you those digital goodies of a PS4 dynamic theme, the six PSN avatars, the digital soundtrack, and the digital version of the mini art book. Again, that's on top of the digital bonuses you get by pre-ordering any edition. Nice.

US Last of Us 2 Collector's Edition pre-order links

Several of the UK GamesRadar+ team will be hankering for this one. And in the UK the Collector's Edition is going to be a GAME exclusive. However, stock will continue to fluctuate as this is the highest-profile edition available to pre-order in the UK and the only place to do it. Stay vigilant and hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones. The remaining versions should be available at most of the other big boys though.

The Last of Us 2 pre-orders - Special Edition

Coming in at a very tempting $80 (and probably about the same in pounds), the Special Edition is a little more restrained than the Ellie Edition and Collector's Edition but incredibly tempting nonetheless. The Special Edition bags you the SteelBook copy of the physical game, the 48-page miniature art book, the PS4 dynamic theme and the six PSN avatars. Once again, you'll get those in-game bonuses for pre-ordering the Special Edition.

The Last of Us 2 pre-orders - Standard Edition

The most modest version of the game, but still one that will likely fly off the shelves faster than the most delicious hot cakes. The Standard Edition gets you just that: the standard physical game. However, you will also get the two in-game bonuses from pre-ordering any edition. And - hoorah! - this is the edition we can definitely find a live link for in the UK currently! Thus, this is the best way for our UK pals to nail down a copy today to ensure you'll get it as early as possible.

Also, it's worth noting that there is a special digital version exclusive avatar - designed around Ellie's instantly recognisable Fern frond tattoo - available for those of you who prefer to go disc-less and get the digital versions of the game.

The Last of Us 2 pre-orders - Other items

There are a few other bits and bobs coming our way as part of the recent Outbreak Day that will further celebrations of the The Last of Us Part II and everything that is going to make it a genuine classic of our time. You can read our round up of all that came out of the recent announcement here, and we'll update this page when they become available too. At the moment, the blue vinyl soundtrack that comes with the Ellie Edition above, has popped up on Amazon by itself. This is likely to be highly sought after so consider it a must-have for those interested in the probably excellent game soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla.

As was revealed on Outbreak Day, there's also an art book coming just after the game's release. This 200-page nailed-on excellent book will be released on March 3rd but you can pre-order it now.

US pre-order links

Yup, here we are again, UK readers. This hasn't popped up in the UK yet so it's only for our US chums at the moment. But naturally, we'll get this up here as soon as it is - along with any extra The Last of Us Part II goodies that pop up in the future. However, you could give the soundtrack from the original game a stream or a purchase in the meantime; it is still truly an excellent listen and will stir up those feels for sure. However, there are pre-order pages for the art book, both digital and hardcover. Though the latter says it is currently unavailable at this time (early October) but we'd wager that will come good soon, so keep checking back.

Getting the most out of The Last of Us 2

There is no doubt that the very best way to play The Last of Us Part II is going to be with as optimised a PlayStation setup as you can possibly manage. This means, at the very least, you'll want to check out the best PS4 Pro deals to ensure you have the top PS4 model to make the most of the game's incredible visuals. Speaking of which, definitely consider one of the best gaming TVs to bask in the glory of those landscapes and environments as well. And finally, ensure you have a gaming sound system that will fill the room with the game's audio or go for one of the best PS4 headsets. Naughty Dog are advocates of 3D audio which was present in Uncharted 4 and only accessible with Sony's official PS4 Platinum headset - which is also excellent - so you might want to consider that particular set of cans to soak up every audio cue and every note of Gustavo Santaolalla's wonderful music.

I'm currently a good way through an Assassin's Creed-athon having started with ACIII Remastered back in March, and am currently on Syndicate. When I'm not playing solo, I'll play coop games like Wildlands with my best friend online. I just love open worlds and landscapes, OK?

In addition, you'll get a replica of Ellie's bracelet, a custom SteelBook in the Collector's Edition, plus a full-sized replica of Ellie's backpack and a 7" ammo capacity upgrade and crafting training manual as in-game items.

Hot off last night's new trailer and the announcement that The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on 21st February, Sony and Naughty Dog have also unveiled a jam-packed Last of Us Part 2 Collector's Edition.

It may not top the Final Fantasy 7 - 1st Class Edition in terms of sheer over-the-top goodies, but it does include a rather lovely 12" Ellie statue. In addition, you'll get a replica of Ellie's bracelet, a custom SteelBook case, a 48-page mini art book from Dark Horse, a set of six enamel pins, an art print and a set of five stickers.

There are some digital wares as final extras too: a PS4 dynamic theme, six PSN avatars, the digital soundtrack, and a digital version of the artbook. Quite a haul!

Retailers have just started putting their listings up for 159.99 in the UK (where it's a GAME exclusive) and $169.99 in the US.

The special editions don't stop there, though. Folks in the US will also be getting the Last of Us Part 2 Ellie Edition. This comes with everything listed in the Collector's Edition, plus a full-sized replica of Ellie's backpack and a 7" vinyl record featuring music from the original soundtrack. Unless they've been keeping schtum on an announcement, it doesn't look like this version is making its way outside of the US, sadly.

Of course, you can always just forego the mountain of extras and grab The Last of Us Part 2 Special Edition for 69.99 in the UK or for $79.99 in the US. That'll get you a SteelBook and the artbook. Lastly, you might want to stick to the standard edition for 49.99 or $59.99 from Amazon.

Pre-order any version of The Last of Us Part 2 and you'll receive an ammo capacity upgrade and crafting training manual as in-game items. Both items aren't exactly fitting with the whole post-apocalyptic survival vibe the game is going for but, hey, this seems unavoidable nowadays for the sake of extra tat.

We'll be continuing to monitor the best price for The Last of Us Part 2 over at Jelly Deals for the next few months. While there, you can also find our picks for the best PS4 external hard drive and the best price for PS Plus. Fittingly, The Last of Us Remastered will be one of your free games next month!

Last week, I made a Shirt/Tie Tote for my little Connor to carry all of his “quiet activities” to church and right when I finished it, my 5 year old Elli asked, “are you going to make me a shirt/tie bag for church too?”  “Ummm….nope, but how about ruffles,” I asked.  “Suuuuuure!” she squealed.

Okay.  Done deal.

So I got right to work.  But instead of using an old button up, I grabbed some thick upholstery fabric from my stash and a bit of jersey knit (no fray = no hemming) and made this little Ruffled Tote for her.

When it was all finished, she happily slung that new little ruffly tote right over her shoulder ……….and whew, excitedly told me everythinglittlething she was going to put inside.  (Just no rocks.  Or grass.  Okay?)

Whew, now both little chickies can carry their own stuff to church.  And no more arguing about what crayons belong to which child.  (Shirt/Tie Tote found here.)

Why is it so easy to make a 5 year old’s day?  I wish she’d stay 5 forever……so easy to please!

And yes, the bottom is nice and squared off.  Perfect for all her stuff.

And since I used jersey knit (which doesn’t fray) for the ruffles, no hemming was needed on those 3 rows of ruffles.

I’m sure glad we have a place for Elli’s books, markers, and “quiet toys” for church now.  And yay……..it’s just her size!

After testing out her new bag for a bit, Elli asked me when she’d be old enough to carry gum in her “church bag”.  I think, according to her, carrying gum and car keys in your purse means you’re really big.

Well, hmmmm, maybe you can when you’re 31 like your momma. :)

Would you like to make your own Ruffled Tote?

Okay, first of all, you can make your tote out of anything you want.  Upholstery fabric, regular quilting cotton, faux leather, an old boot, etc.  Haha, okay, not an old boot…..but you get the idea.  However, if you’re using a flimsy outer fabric, try and make the lining something more sturdy, like Duck Cloth (which is what I used to make the shirt/tie tote here.)  And as for the ruffles, you can use cotton or some other fraying fabric……but you’ll need to hem (or maybe just serge) each bottom edge.  Otherwise your ruffles will fray quite a bit.  That’s why I chose jersey knit.  I bought my jersey knit at Wal-Mart but you could also cut up some old shirts and use those for your ruffles.

Supplies:

  • Upholstery Fabric (or something thick and sturdy) for inner and outer bag.  I used about a yard.
  • 60″ wide jersey knit fabric for ruffles.  I used about a half yard.  (If you use knit that isn’t 60 inches wide and you still want the same amount of ruffling, you will need to sew strips together to make them 60 inches long.)
  • thread, scissors, pins, etc.

You can make your tote a variety of sizes but I will share the dimensions I used to make my little tote for my 5 year old, which is 14.5 inches tall (not including the handles) and 15 inches wide.

Cut the following pieces of fabric as shown below.  The number of pieces is shown to the left of the parenthesis and the dimensions (in inches) is shown inside the parenthesis.  Then main large square pieces on the left are for the lining and the pieces on the right are for the outer bag.  It’s cut into 2 pieces so that you can sew your ruffle between the two, which will make more sense later on.

**The printed fabric is upholstery weight fabric from Joann’s and the pink is jersey knit from Wal-Mart.

Now, use a 1/2 inch seam allowance and sew your two lining pieces (16 x 16) together with right sides together, along the right and left sides…..shown on the right.  Then, sew the two 3.5 x 16 pieces together and the two 13.5 x 16 pieces together, with right sides together, and along the shorter ends……..shown on the left.  Turn right side out and iron seams open and flat.

Next, grab your smaller strip of knit fabric (4 x 60) and sew the two ends together (with right sides together), using a 1/4 inch seam allowance.

**If you use knit that isn’t 60 inches wide to begin with and you still want the same amount of ruffling, you will need to sew strips together to get 60 inches long……..or if you want more ruffling, you can make your strips 80 inches long (or longer) for fuller ruffles.

Next, split this little circle of fabric into 2 sections and add basting stitches (1/2 inch seam allowance) to the top edge of the circle.  Then pull in the basting stitches to create ruffling and then pin your circle of ruffles all the way around the top edge of the 13.5 x 16 inch pieces that were sewn together.  (Need help with gathering/making ruffles? Go here.)  Then sew these ruffles to the top edge of the fabric, using a 1/2 inch seam allowance again.

Next, sew your other two strips of knit fabric into circles, then add basting stitches and create ruffles…….just like you did above.  Then pin these next two rows of ruffles to the base fabric, evenly spacing them and overlapping them.  Pin in place.  Also, be sure that your bottom ruffle doesn’t go all the way down to the bottom of the base fabric, because the bottom of the bag will shorten up when you square off the bottom.  (I pinned the bottom ruffle about 2 inches from the bottom……but this can vary, depending on how much you square off the bottom.)  Then sew each ruffle in place.

Next, grab the top sections of fabric that were sewn together into a circle (3.5 x 16 inch pieces) and slide it over the ruffled section of fabric, with right sides together.  Match the top edges up evenly, then sew together with a 1/2 inch seam allowance.

Next, flip that top strip of fabric up and iron open.  Be sure that the fabric flap from behind (the seam allowance) is ironed upwards.  Then sew a seam right at the bottom of the strip of fabric you just attached, making sure that the seam allowance from behind is included in the seam.  (I sewed about 1/16 of an inch from the edge.)

Now, sew your handles pieces together, just like shown in this bag tutorial here.

Now, you have 3 sections left to sew together.  The lining (on the left), the outer fabric (in the middle), and the two handles on the right.  Visit the other tote tutorial here, and put these pieces together in exactly the same way.

And that’s it.

A sweet little ruffled tote.

Ready for filling.

7 Quilted Bags You Can Totally Make This Weekend

My greatest wish for you, is to dream big, create fearlessly and go after the things that bring you and those around you joy!

I found my love of designing and sewing when I had my first daughter, Aubrey.  I wanted her to wear the cute, boutique style clothing I had found online but I couldn't afford it.  I decided to ask for a sewing machine for Christmas and proceeded to teach myself to sew.

Along the way, I realized that I had something special when it came to putting fabrics together and I loved the adorable creations I was making.

I began selling clothing online with the encouragement of family and friends.  I learned new and better ways to make them each day and continued to grow my business.  Once my clothing business became very successful, ten years later, I wanted to give back.  I decided that a great way would be to offer sewing patterns for things I sold in my boutique for those who couldn't afford them, but would still love their children to be able to wear it.  To me, this was giving back to where it all began for me.

From there I was hooked. Designing sewing patterns was so fun and I found that the more I worked at learning how to draft patterns, the better I became at it.  I have been designing patterns for over six years now.  For now, there is nothing I love more.

I am successful, happy, and I love getting to work everyday. My husband who used to work long hours, is now home full time with us. He helps me with the business and gets to be the dad to our four children the he wants to be.  This was the beginning of a huge dream we had!  We sold our house in 2016 and set off with our four kids to travel.  It was an amazing experience and I am so grateful for every moment.

If you have a dream...go do it! It all might seem scary and others will laugh and try to tell you that your dream is impossible or unrealistic, but it is not their dream.  Even if you must take baby steps toward your dream, take them.  You will never regret that you did, but you always will regret that you didn't.

Thank you to my mother for repeatedly telling me I was selling myself short and that I had a gift to offer the world, to my grandmother for always doing art projects with me and instilling the love of music and crafting deep within me, my husband for his constant support of my dreams and encouraging me to see beyond what I see as possible, and ALL of you who make what I do possible by supporting my work.

I am truly honored to be able to share my designs with the world and my sincere hope is that my patterns and designs help you to create your own story to share with others.
