Crafting Skill is a measure of how fast you craft items (or in the case of Gacha, dropping high quality loot in the form of Gacha Crystals) and also which quality they have. Higher crafting skill reduces the amount of time it takes to craft an item, allowing you to craft more items in a shorter amount of time. Since you are slower while crafting, this also reduces the amount of time that you are slowed while crafting on the go. As of the Patch v224.2, crafting speed provides a bonus to the stats of custom food recipes upon cooking them. See Custom Consumable for more details. As of Patch v259.0, Crafting Skill will also improve the Item Quality of items you craft. Each time you craft an item using a blueprint, the resulting item will have a random Crafted Skill Bonus from zero to the maximum based on your current Crafting Skill. Items crafted from engrams don't get any bonus.

This page contains various settings on how to customize and improve your ARK server for you and your players. Please note, that this is not a complete list of all settings that are available.

General ARK Settings

Difficulty and Wild Dino Levels

Both loot and wild dino levels are calculated by two variables: Difficulty Offset and Override Official Difficulty (OOD). When adjusting the level for the dinos on your server, it's best to stick with the Override Official Difficulty values. The formula for calculating dino levels is as follows:

Maximum wild dinosaur level = Override Official Difficulty x30
Difference in wild dinosaur levels = Override Official Difficulty

For example: An Override Official Difficulty value of 10 will result in a maximum wild dino level of 300, with levels being 10, 20, 30, etc. The only exception to this rule is when it comes to wyverns and boss monsters, as the maximum level can be "(Override Official Difficulty+1)x30", so an OOD value of 30 can result in a level 330 wyvern.

Cluster Servers

With ARK, multiple servers can be run in parallel to allow transfers between them, such as from The Island to Extinction, Aberration, Ragnarok, etc. For further information about cluster servers, please see ARK: Server Clusters for more information.

Player and Dino Settings

Levels

Modifying an ARK server to add in extra levels, modify existing ones or the engrams received, is very easy and can be done via two methods: via the Modify Server Config tool or directly modifying the Game.ini file.

NOTE: ARK reserves the last 30 levels for Ascension, no matter how the leveling data is modified. At this time, the default maximum level for players without Ascension is level 105 and with full Ascension is 135. If you wish for your players to reach level 150 without Ascension, then you need to add in leveling data up to level 180.

Modify Server Config Method

To get started with adding in levels for your ARK, you will need to open up the Modify Server Config tool. On the left side, find the tab labeled Player Levels and click on it. You will be taken to a section with the text, Player Levels Configuration and two radio buttons. Click on the first radio button next to Make Changes and the leveling configuration section will display, as shown below.

Make Changes
When this button is selected, the aforementioned table will display, allowing users to change the leveling data for their server.
Leave Default
This reverts the leveling process back to the default values. As of October 15th, 2018 level 134 is the maximum level obtained by players by default.
+ Add Level
This button adds a level at the bottom of the configuration tool with empty values for both XP Required and Engrams Received.
- Remove Level
This button removes the highest level from the tool.
XP Required
This is the total amount of XP needed to reach this level. This value must ALWAYS be equal or greater to the previous level's value or you will encounter leveling issues.
Engrams Received
This is the amount of engrams gained when reaching this level. This value can be 0 or greater.


When you add levels, you will need to scroll down to the bottom of the section and input the data for each of the levels, as shown below:

Modifying Game.ini

Alternatively, if you are adding a vast amount of leveling data and do not want to add in the data one at a time via the Modify Server Config tool, you can do so by accessing the Game.ini file. For PC users, you will need to use FTP Access to connect to your server and upload or modify your Game.ini file. For PS4 users, you can click on the Game.ini button located on your control panel and directly edit it there.

Stats

Player and Dino stats are represented by multiple sections of stats. There are a total of five different blocks for stats and they are listed as follows:

  1. PlayerBaseStatMutlipliers[0]=1.0
    Base stats for the player, such as starting health, oxygen, and crafting speed.
  2. PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[0]=1.0
    Bonuses applied to specific stats per level up.
  3. PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed[0]=1.0
    Bonuses applied to specific stats for a tamed dino upon leveling up.
  4. PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed_Affinity[0]=1.0
    A bonus applied to dinos as they are tamed, based on the affinity level during the taming process.

Stats are broken down into the following attributes:

0: Health
1: Stamina / Charge Capacity
2: Torpidity
3: Oxygen / Charge Regeneration
4: Food
5: Water
6: Temperature
7: Weight
8: MeleeDamageMultiplier / Charge Emission Range
9: SpeedMultiplier (excluding flying dinos)
10: TemperatureFortitude
11: CraftingSpeedMultiplier (players only)

An example of modifying a player's base health (200) can be shown below:

The player now has 1,000 HP as a base stat value.

Dino Mating, Hatching, and Maturing

For configuring dino breeding settings, there are a few variables that can be edited via the Modify Server Config tool. Please note, that any changes will not retroactively apply to dinos that are undergoing one of these processes. Once a new stage is reached, the new multipliers will go into effect.

MatingIntervalMultiplier=1.0
100% speed. Setting this value lower will cause dinos to mate more frequently.
MatingSpeedMultiplier=1.0
Higher values make the speed at which dinos mate faster.
LayEggIntervalMultiplier=1.0
100% speed. Higher numbers will increase the time it takes for dinos to lay eggs. Smaller numbers increases egg laying frequency.
EggHatchSpeedMultiplier=1.0
100% speed. Higher numbers decreases the time it takes for an egg to hatch into a baby.
BabyMatureSpeedMultiplier=1.0
100% speed. Higher numbers decreases the time it takes for a baby to mature to a fully grown adult.

Claiming Leftover Dinos

To reclaim dinos and structures from your previous tribe, please do the following:

  1. Open up the console and type in enablecheats ADMINPASSWORD, where ADMINPASSWORD is the password you have set in the control panel for administrative access.
  2. Create a new tribe for yourself.
  3. Go to your previous tribe's structures and make sure you have it targeted.
  4. With a structure targeted, open up the console and type cheat TakeAllStructure. You should have full ownership of the structures as if you created them yourself.
  5. Now, to claim ownership of the tribe's dinos, type in cheat TakeAllDino with the structure still targeted. You should now have full ownership of all dinos that were previously owned by your old tribe.

Auto Decay and Destruct Structures

To cleanup old structures and tamed dinos, a server can enable Auto Decay and Auto Destruction. Structures and Dinos have their own decay / destruct timers, with tamed dinos having an additional setting that allows them to be claimed after a set time. These timers will count down unless a tribe member is in close proximity and has the structure within "draw" distance. (i.e they can see it on their computer screen) However, if a tribe member is not nearby, the timers for the structure or tamed dino will start counting down.

Auto Decay - The amount of time until a structure is available for demolishing by a player.
Auto Destruct - The amount of time, after Auto Decay has expired, until a structure will be automatically demolished.

Each structure is categorized into one of four classes, per building type, each with their own decay/destruct time variables. By default, these are the times per each building type.

Thatch - 4 days
Wood - 8 days
Stone - 12 days
Metal - 16 days

Turning on Auto Decay and Auto Destruct for your server can help improve performance and clean up old buildings scattered across the server. To turn this setting on, click on the Advanced Launch Params button on your control panel and look for the setting shown in the screenshot below. Check the box and scroll down to the bottom of the pop-out window and click the button to save settings and resatrt your game server.



For those who want to fine tune the decay and destruction multipliers, you can do so via the GameUserSettings.ini file with the settings listed below. For PvP servers, you MUST use all PvE variables, while PvE servers do not need the PvP settings. (it's good practice to include them anyway)

Harvests, Items, and Supply Drop Settings

Harvesting

When setting up harvesting amounts for your server, there are two different multipliers to take into effect. HarvestMultiplier and HarvestResourceItemAmountClassMultipliers.

HarvestMultiplier - The most common one. This controls the number of gathering attempts are calculated during a single gathering attempt.
HarvestResourceItemAmountClassMultipliers - This controls the amount of resources gained when a specific item is successfully mined from a harvesting node, such as Thatch from a tree.

As expected, if the HarvestMultiplier value is set too high, this can cause issues with server lag and performance upon any harvesting attempt due to the increased number of calculations to perform per attempt. To give players plenty of resources without causing server lag, it is suggested to use the HarvestResourceItemAmountClassMultipliers variable instead. The latter can be achieved via the Modify Server Config tool found within the control panel, with instructions on how to do so below.

  1. After opening the Modify Server Config window, there will be multiple options on the left pane that allow travel to specific segments in the tool. Click on the option for Harvestable Items Multipliers Overrides.



  2. Click on the radio button to "Make Changes". This will open up a list similar to the screenshot below.



  3. With the expanded list, make changes to the multipliers for each resource as needed. Each harvestable item is represented in the list below.
  4. Once down, scroll down to the bottom of the Modify Server Config tool and click on the button to save settings and restart the game server.

Supply Drops and Beacon

An easy way to modify supply drops across the various ARK maps can be done with a handy application named Beacon. Beacon offers a simple user interface to help customize drops on the various maps as well as differentiating between normal/bonus supply drops.

Beacon - How To and Example

Below is an "Editor's Choice" of supply drop additions for The Island, Center, Ragnarok, and other maps that use the default supply drops. While this is subject to future modification, the beacon code does two major things:

  1. Adds Red, Blue, and Green Gems, as well as Element, Corrupted Wood, and Fungal Wood to drops.
  2. Adds costume pieces and skins across all different beacons with a low chance of appearing. Bonus drops have different loot tables!

Simply copy and paste the below code, removing any empty lines and any colons affixed to the "Config" word in each line, into your Game.ini file and restart your game server. You may need to shut down your server first before making edits to your config files.

Engram Settings

Unlocking Engrams

To enable engrams to automatically unlock when a player gains a level, you will need to edit Game.ini in the same fashion as adding in Engram Crafting Cost Replacements. For PC users, you will need to use FTP Access, while PS4 users can modify the file directly from the control panel. Open the file and, at the bottom of the /Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode section, put this code on its own separate line:

bAutoUnlockAllEngrams=true

Another method is to unlock everything for survivors the moment they join. In order to do this, copy the code listed under the Expand button at the bottom of this paragraph, then paste it in the Game.ini file.

Please note that these are a "manual" changes outside of the Modify Server Config tool, similar to Engram Crafting Cost Replacements. If you make any changes with the MSC tool, you will need to add this code once again.

Recipe Cost Changes

To change the material cost of recipes for engrams, you will need to modify the Game.ini file. For PC users, you will need to use FTP Access, while PS4 users can modify the file directly from the control panel. (In either case, it is strongly advised that you stop the game server first) The code entry, ConfigOverrideItemCraftingCosts must be added, per engram, at the bottom of the /Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode section within the Game.ini file.

The format for the code example is as follows:

In this example code, this changes the item Cementing Paste to require only one Stone.

Both parenthesis following BaseCraftingResourceRequirements must be present, even if there is only one reagent. Here is an example of another item being replaced, specifically the Stone Hatchet.

NOTE: Changes made through FTP access or by modifying the GameUserSettings.ini or Game.ini directly will be erased if you use the Modify Server Config tool to save changes. It is strongly recommended that you save any code that you add in manually to either configuration file.

Dinosaur sim Ark: Survival Evolved lets you enter all sorts of console commands to enable god mode, level up, teleport, spawn items, instantly tame dinosaurs, unlock all engrams, and more. These Ark cheats are for singleplayer mode, or for multiplayer mode if you're the server admin (or if you've been given the server admin password). Otherwise you can't use them online. You can access the console in Ark by pressing the Tab key—you'll see a narrow box open at the very bottom of your screen. That's where you'll be typing in the cheats. To close the console, press Tab again.

In singleplayer mode, just type the cheats to enable them. In multiplayer, if you have the admin password, you'll need to type 'EnableCheats <password>' before you can use cheats. Some cheats (while playing on a server) will require the prefix 'admincheat'. In singleplayer, you don't need to worry about a prefix. Just type them and press Enter.

ARK Survival Evolved PS4 players will have to wait another day for the new patch

UPDATE ONE: Studio Wildcard have now confirmed that the scheduled ARK Survival Evolved update for PS4 will not rollout today.

Instead, the new patch will launch later this week, either on Thursday or Friday, July 14.

Explaining the delay, a community manager wrote on Twitter: "We won't be getting a console update out for either Xbox or PS4 on the 12th. Still have some issues to work out. Sorry guys!

"Our aim is the next possible day, but I'll update the ETA once I know it's being submitted to cert (sic).

"We're still aiming for a PC update within the next 12 hrs or so (don't stay up for it) which will have a number of bug fixes.

"Nothing has gone wrong per se with this update, we just want it to the as good as it can be, and having an extra 12 hrs or a day."

STUDIO WILDCARD

The new ARK Survival Evolved update for PS4 arrives today

Developers Studio Wildcard have been hard at work fixing issues with the latest build of the game on Xbox One.

This has led to a delay in the latest ARK Survival Evolved update on PS4, with the studio hard at work trying to avoid shipping over the same bugs.

Having increased the visual quality of ARK creatures on Xbox One, this change resulted in those creatures now taking up significantly more memory.

Combined with the large number of dinos you can encounter, this led to the game crashing and Studio Wildcard needing to bring hotfixes.

A message from Wildcard explains: “Right now our main focus is getting Xbox in a good state, and then we'll be able to port over the changes with Abstraction to PS4. 

“We're doing a lot of the hard work now so that process will be smoother later on, and we expect to drop that update around the 12th. 

“This will get all 3 versions of the game to generally the same place / on the same version etc. 

“From there we'll be working on wrapping up Ragnarok on console, and it's likely the PC version will also receive an update (and yes, console would get the same version of Ragnarok that is on PC).”

The latest from the community team is that the new ARK Survival Evolved update for PS4 will be ready for launch later today.

Version 510 should bring PS4 players up to speed and avoid the need to downgrade the creature graphics to avoid major crashes.

This will include a big list of bug fixes, many of which won’t be noticed by those playing the game.

The next big update after this will include the ARK Survival Evolved Ragnarok mod, which should arrive for both consoles on July 19.

As always, there’s the chance that today’s update will be delayed until later in the week.

Highlights of some of those changes on PS4 can be found below:

New Item: Tek Tapejara Saddle!

  • New Skill: Crafting Skill! Replaces Crafting speed. Crafting Skill increases crafted blueprint quality by up to a 64% multiplier on bonus stats for 100 points into Crafting Skill. The item then displays your name and your tribe name and indicates what percent bonus you received when crafting. It still increases the rate at which you can craft items, as well as grants higher stat benefits from cooking custom recipes.
  • New Feature: Corpse Locator! Upon death, a beam of light shoots into the sky to help the player locate where they died. Enabled on Official Servers by default. Add bUseCorpseLocator=true to your Game.ini for server use.
  • New Host Option: Disable Structure Placement Collision! Unofficial Servers and single-players can enable this feature to allow them to place structures that clip into terrain. Add bDisableStructurePlacementCollision=true to your Game.ini for server use.
  • New Host Option: Use Singleplayer Settings! When enabled, this edits all game settings to be more balanced for an individual player experience. Add bUseSingleplayerSettings=true to your Game.ini for server use. This is automatically enabled for Non Dedicated servers too, you can disable it in your host menu settings, or set the ini to false.
  • New Host Option: Fast Decay! Enable this option for a fixed constant decay period for "Fast Decay" structures (such as pillars or lone foundations). Add FastDecayInterval (default is 43200) to your Game.ini for server use.
  • New kill, death, speech, and talking icons added.
  • Implemented hibernation from console to PC, which introduces over 500MB saved in memory for spawning dinos.
  • Fixed graphical issue with crops appearing massive.
  • Fixed player ragdolls becoming malformed when falling from great heights.
  • Fixed player getting stuck in rocks/trees/structures when logging out in single player.
  • Fixed dino spawning issues in single player that caused over-spawning of certain creatures over time and issue where spawns were becoming depopulated.
  • Fixed single player settings via the slider from resetting.
  • Fixed BabyCuddleIntervalMultiplier setting via the host menu.
  • Fixed traps not working after a game/server restart (bear traps, species Y traps, narcotic traps, alarms).
  • Fixed various lighting issues on The Island and The Center.
  • Fixed low landscape LODs on both the Center and the Island when using low viewing distance (certain landscape will stream in better quality from further away, e.g. skull island on the Center).
  • Improved war paint on female model around the hairline.
  • Fixed issue where player appeared to be floating above the saddle when boarding a dino while crouching.
  • Fixed electrical cables appearing unpowered when reloading a single-player game.
  • Fixed issue where logging out in single-player while holding a shield showed the player holding two shield on relog.
  • Fixed Explorer Note sorting.
  • Fixed ATV from repeatedly honking when leaving and entering render distance.
  • Changed the Tribe Manager to have Tribe Log highlighted by default when using a controller.
  • Fixed grappling hook being enlarged when shooting at a Large Storage Box.
  • Colorized boss health bars to indicated boss difficulty.
  • Added featured to allow players to set the light level of their lamps.
  • Changed static mesh of Plant Species X to remove swaying and firing animation to reduce client FPS drops.
  • Added on-screen indicator icon when structure placement is in rotation-mode.
  • Fixed issue where the cooking pot provided infinite dye.

Dino Specific Changes:

  • Fixed issue where dino attacks could not do damage under low server FPS.
  • Fixed the dino fleeing mechanic so that dinos should no longer run into walls endlessly.
  • Fixed the dino fleeing mechanic so that dinos should attempt to run towards the player and not towards water, previously causing them to torpor out in water and drown. In the case where the dino cannot reach the player, it may still end up running towards water via picking a random direction.
  • Fixed issue with Thylacoleo, Kaprosuchus, Megalosaurus, and Tuso where when attacking, the creature was able to force the target under world geometry and make them unrideable/unmovable.
  • Rebalanced speed gained per tamed level up on all dinos.
  • Fixed issue where unconscious player could be pushed through terrain by a Kaprosuchus.
  • Fixed issue where Tuso could grab through Iceberg geometry.
  • Fixed issue where babies were consuming less food when floating. 
  • Fixed issue where babies were consuming more food than intended as they tried to regain health. Regaining health no longer costs food for babies.
  • Changed all creature names to use their long form.

Ark cheat codes and admin commands are the secret to making the world of Ark a less terrifying place. With all those dinosaurs running around unchecked, you may be finding that your quest to chop down trees is being too often interrupted by velociraptors. If this is the case, then perhaps you need to make some adjustment to your game with some Ark admin commands.

Admin commands, also known as console commands, are not strictly Ark cheats, but they do change the game to allow you access to things you wouldn’t usually have. You can boost your experience points, instantly tame a dinosaur, add an item to your inventory, or even destroy every dinosaur in the land, simply by using a code word. Just type them in, tap enter, and hack the world as if it’s the Matrix.

Our guide to Ark’s admin commands will show you how to do all this. We’ve got all the best console codes, and we’ll even show you how to change the Ark .ini file to make sure they all work, too.

How do you enter Ark: Survival Evolved admin commands?

To use an Ark console command, you’ll first need to open the console. This can be done by pressing the TAB key. If this doesn’t work, you’ll need to make a quick adjustment in the game’s .ini file. Head to:

Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Config\DefaultInput.ini

and open the .ini with Word Pad or similar. Scroll to the bottom of the document to find the line “+ConsoleKeys=Tab”. In front of the line will be a semi-colon (;). Delete this, save the .ini file, and the console should now work in-game.

Many commands will require the ‘Enable Cheats’ command to be used beforehand, as well as the ‘Enable Cheats for Player’ command. Be sure to use these before attempting to use other commands.

Here is a list of Ark cheat codes and admin commands:

Enable Cheats

enablecheats <password>
Enables server administrator commands for the player. Password required will be the server password. Example: enablecheats pass123

Enable Cheats for Player, Mount, & World

setcheatplayer “true/false”
Enables cheat commands that affect the current player, mounted dinosaur, and game world.

Add Experience Points

admincheat addexperience <amount> 0 <share>
Adds a number of experience points to the player, or to be shared with the tribe. Replace <amount> with how much XP required, and set <share> to 1 for player only, or 0 to share with tribe.

Add to Whitelist

admincheat AllowPlayerToJoinNoCheck <player>
Adds a player to the server whitelist.

Remove from Whitelist

admincheat DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck <player>
Removes a player from the server whitelist.

Add to Banned List

admincheat Ban <player>
Adds a player to the server banned list.

Remove from Banned List

admincheat Unban <player>
Removes a player from the server banned list.

Broadcast Message

admincheat Broadcast <message>
Broadcast a message to all players on the server.

Custom Damage

admincheat DamageTarget <amount>
Deals a specified amount of damage to the creature/object in the player’s crosshairs.

Destroy All Creatures

admincheat DestroyAll <type>
Destroys all creatures of the specified type.

Destroy All Dinosaurs

admincheat destroyallenemies
Destroys all dinosaurs living on the map. New dinosaurs can still spawn.

Ignorant Enemies

admincheat EnemyInvisible true|false
All creatures on the map will ignore the player, even when attacked.

Sleep

admincheat ExecSetSleeping true|false
Puts the player character to sleep or wakes them up.

Fly

admincheat fly
Allows the player to move in any direction without being held down by gravity. Can be cancelled by using the ‘walk’ command.

Tame Dinosaur

admincheat forcetame
Immediately tames the dinosaur in player’s crosshairs.

Ghost Mode

admincheat ghost
Allows player to walk through walls and terrain.

Add an Item to Inventory

admincheat GiveItemNum <item_id> <quantity> <quality> <blueprint>
Adds a specified item to the player’s inventory. ItemID will be a number specific to the item, quantity and quality will also be numeric values. <blueprint> can either be ‘true’ (for a constructed item) or ‘false’ (for just the blueprint).

Give Resources

admincheat giveresources
Adds 50 units of each resource to your inventory.

God Mode

admincheat god
Toggles on/off God Mode, which makes you invulnerable to all damage except drowning.

Self Damage

admincheat HurtMe <amount>
Damages the player character by specified amount.

Infinite Stats

Provides the player with infinite food, water, stamina, and carrying capacity, Torpor is kept at zero.

Kick Player

admincheat KickPlayer <steam_id>
Disconnects a specified player from the server.

Stop Everything

admincheat PlayersOnly
Stops all creature movement and prevents crafting. Players can still move.

Message of the Day

admincheat SetMessageOfTheDay <message>
Sets the server’s message of the day, which displays when players connect.

Move Player

admincheat SetPlayerPos <x> <y> <z>
Instantly moves the player character to specified coordinates.

Set Time

admincheat settimeofday <hour>:<minute>[:<second>]
Sets the time of day on the server to a specified time.

Time Speed

admincheat slomo <factor>
Sets the speed of the passage of time on the server. <Factor> is a multiplier, so ‘1’ is normal, ‘2’ is twice the speed, and ‘0.5’ is half speed.

Summon Creature

admincheat summon <type>
Spawns a specified creature in front of player.

Slingshot Teleport

admincheat teleport
Teleports the player in the direction they are facing until they hit an object.

Unlimited Ammo

admincheat ToggleInfiniteAmmo
Provides unlimited ammunition for all firearms.

Walk

admincheat walk
Activated walk, which is the default form of movement. Will deactivate fly mode.

Unlock Recipes

admincheat giveengrams
Unlocks all crafting recipes for the player character.

FPS Counter

Displays a frames-per-second counter on-screen.

Server Admin Menu

ShowMyAdminManager
Displays the menu for server admin tools.

Spectator Mode

Enables spectator mode.

Toggle Gun

Toggles on/off the player’s equipped weapon being displayed.
