There are new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Mastercraft weapons introduced in Treyarch’s fourth entry in the series. These new type of weapons are unique and build upon the Signature weapons. Signature weapons are special cosmetic versions of already existing weapons. Thankfully, these weapons have no actual effect on stats and the like.

The Signature weapons are essentially unique camo skins for certain guns. Unfortunately, there are only two of these available right now in the game. Since you are required to own the Signature weapon in order to get the Black Ops 4 Mastercraft weapons, that means there are only two possible Mastercraft weapons.

How to Get Black Ops 4 Mastercraft Weapons

Before you can get a Black Ops 4 Mastercraft weapon, you must have the Signature weapon. Like we mentioned, there are only two of those available right now. The first is the Signature version of the Strife pistol. Nicknamed Divinity, this special pistol is only available with pre-orders of the game through GameStop.

Unfortunately, there is a similar situation for the other Signature weapon. You must have purchased the Deluxe Edition or above of the game to procure the MX9 Signature SMG. With one or both of these, you can get the Black Ops 4 Mastercraft weapons. Like the Dark Matter camo, Mastercraft weapons are an unlockable skin.

The Black Ops 4 Mastercraft weapons are unique to Signature weapons. In order to unlock them, you must complete their unique challenges. Completing these challenges will unlock the special Mastercraft cosmetic skin. Again, these skins have no gameplay effect on the game so you don’t have to worry about stat differences.

It is also unfortunate that only two weapons in the game thus far allow for Mastercraft skins. It remains to be seen if Treyarch will add more of these unique guns in the future.

“For our final operation of the Black Ops Season, the team at Treyarch had a blast creating the ultimate battle between good and evil, imagined through alternate universe versions of our Specialist characters as heroes and villains,” said Dan Bunting, Co-Studio Head, Treyarch. “In addition to the heroic experiences of the operation, we can’t wait to share the epic final chapter of the Zombies Aether story – the end of an adventure more than ten years in the making.”

Mark Gordon, Co-Studio Head, Treyarch continued, “Having introduced Zombies as an easter egg in Call of Duty: World at War, this final chapter for the Aether storyline marks an emotional moment for us as developers. We’ve poured all of that energy and emotion into Tag Der Toten, and we can’t wait for players to experience it for themselves.”

Operation Dark Divide’s free, new content includes:

• New Blackout Updates – Blackout features a fresh new comic book aesthetic. Additionally, players can now double-jump and catch some serious air in the limited-time game mode, Heavy Metal Heroes. With Heavy Metal Heroes new equipment such as flare guns and a brand-new tank vehicle have also been added to the battlefield to help players in the ultimate Battle Royale fire-fight.
• New Zombies Features – Operation Dark Divide introduces a new Perk and two new Elixirs as players experience the final chapter of the Aether story.

o   Secret Shopper Elixer: Players will be able to go on an ammo shopping spree and buy any ammo for any gun they’re holding from any wall buy.

o   Power Vacuum Elixer: The drop rate for all power ups is boosted significantly for a few minutes after activating.

o   Blaze Phase Perk: Players can become a charging fireball that knocks enemies back or burns them to a crisp.

• New Black Market Gear – The Black Market has been restocked with a variety of new outfits fit for both heroes and villains, personalization items, weapon camos and gestures tailored for Operation Dark Divide.This includes new weapons like the VMP SMG, AN-94 Assault Rifle and the Echohawk Dual Bore Assault Rifle, that players can acquire and learn to master. Also available are the MkII and the Mastercraft variants of the VKM 750, the Predator S6 Stingray Mastercraft, and two super outfits for Nomad (“Lupine”) and Crash (“Rigor Mortis”).

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4won’t have a traditional campaign mode, but Treyarch and Activision want you to spend as much time as possible shooting up your opponents in competitive multiplayer. To encourage dedicated play, the game will introduce “Signature Weapons,” special versions of guns to help you stand out from the crowd.

“Signature Weapons are the most badass-looking weapons in Black Ops 4, and a badge of honor for the battle-hardened players that have invested the time to achieve the Mastercraft versions,” said Activision editorial manager Kevin Kelly in a blog post.

You won’t get a competitive advantage with Signature Weapons in Black Ops 4 so as to not throw off the balance in multiplayer, but their cosmetic changes might be enough to throw your enemies off their rhythm. The MX-9 Signature Weapon, for instance — which you get if you buy the Digital Deluxe, Digital Deluxe Enhanced, Pro, or Mystery Box versions of the game — features a bald eagle across the side with an enormous wing extending to the muzzle. We wouldn’t want to be on the business end of that thing.

In order to turn your Signature Weapons into their Mastercraft versions, you’ll have to complete special challenges. As you do so, you’ll unlock additional cosmetic changes to the weapon until you’re ultimately awarded the Mastercraft version. The difference between the two is pretty staggering. The pre-order bonus Divinity pistol, for instance, transforms from an olive drab and gray weapon into a gold and white gun that looks like it was pulled from Destiny 2.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has a lot more going for it than just standard multiplayer. The game includes three separate cooperative zombie campaigns at launch, and for the first time in the series, it includes a battle royale mode. Dubbed “Blackout,” the mode features air, land, and sea vehicles, which have typically been limited to kill-streak rewards in the series’ other games. Only time will tell if the mode is substantial enough to compete with the likes of Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 12.
