Machete

Weapon Type

Melee Weapon (Sharp)

Machetes are a type of sharp melee weapon featured in Dying Light.

While Machetes aren't available in the early game, they are useful in the late game when they begin to appear. With adequate speed, high damage, and few weakness, they are even more powerful when aiming for headshots resulting in decapitation.

Variants

There are 24 variants of Machete in the base game:

The Following adds eight new Machetes:

Trivia

  • In real life, machetes have many purposes in use. Primary uses are for cutting overgrowth and bushes, but can be used for agricultural and household tasks.
  • In regards to the Khukuri, Khukuri (or Kukri) is a Nepalese knife used both as a tool and a weapon. In real life, they serve as utility tools in traditions and are used by some militaries such as the Nepalese Army and India's Gorkha Regiments.
  • The Military Machete is one of the most recognized and identifiable weapons in the game. Many survivors can be found using this weapon, including Rais and his men.
    • Rais's personal weapon is a engraved military machete, and uses it against Crane during "Extraction". Currently, he is the only survivor that had an engraved weapon of his own.
      • Oddly, Rais's Machete (from what it appears in the Developer Tools) appears as a normal machete and not the engraved machete as shown during the QTE battle on "Extraction".
  • The Tanto Machete appears to be a reference to Fallout: New Vegas's machete; both machetes appear to be made out of a lawnmower blade.
    • The Remarkable Tanto Machete has a logo titled ROYAL on the blade.
  • The Hunter's Machete also appears to be a reference to The Book of Eli (2010). The Hunter's Machete in-game is modeled after the Kukri-styled weapon used by the main character Eli (played by Denzel Washington).
  • The Panga Machete weapon itself is actually a Parang Machete.
  • The Khukuri Machete's model is based on an Extrema Ratio KM.
  • The player can see Crane's reflection on the blade of a machete if standing in a specific position.

I have Tahir's machete and Rais's gun both at 200+ and 300+ damage respectively in my inventory and is wondering if there is any point in keeping them when my current weapons does far more damage?

I haven't start The Following so wondering if there is any quest there that requires me to turn in their weapons?

I kept Tahir's machete until it was permanently broke then i dismantled it.You'll start getting 1500 damage machetes as your Legend Level (4th skill) increases.

What's the point in keeping any weapon, including easter egg ones.. by this logic? It's no different than a weapon that does more damage than some.

My current weapons all does 1000+ damage now. Thought there's some secret abilities to these 'unique' weapons or they are needed for some quests. If not then I will just sell them.

I kept mine just as a keepsake. To prove I completed that mission, received the item. It's like a reward, a trophy. To me anyway. I keep mine as a keepsake.

Only secret ability ones are (some) easter egg weapons/items.

Can I know which are the easter egg weapons/items and how to get them?

Rais' gun is unique in that it's a burst fire hand gun. I'd hold on to that

That's good info. I will keep it if that's the case. So are there anymore easter egg weapons/items and how to get them?

Dying Light has Zombies, Free Running, Day-Night Cycle

We've got a soft spot for the Dead Island co-op zombie smash 'em up experience, despite how objectively terrible a lot of it is. So we're cautiously optimistic about developer Techland's new take on the zombie apocalypse, Dying Light. It's a four-player co-operative open world game where free-running, melee combat and understanding the game's day-night cycle are the keys to success. “The Following” is a DLC for Dying Light. It introduces a new map with new weapon blueprints. Below is a list of the weapon(and buggy upgrade) blueprints available in the map.

Hacking Tool.

There are a couple of “mysterious boxes” in the DLC that you will encounter. They don’t open unless you have the hacking tool. The hacking tool can be obtained after you do Tolga and Fatin’s last mission. It will be on the table near their train (near the southern tunnel). You can visit the table if you missed it the first time and the hacking tool will still be there.

Military Key Card

You will need a military key card to open up the military chests in the map. They contain the Experimental Military blueprints which are Level 6 Upgrades for your Buggy. You can get the military key card by doing the “The Gathering” main quest. Jasir will give the card to you near end of the mission.
