The Escapists 2 Area 17 Prison Guide details everything that you need to know about escaping from Area 17 prison in The Escapist 2.
First escape is Alien Technology and it is a multiplayer only escape. For this escape, you will need at least one friend with you. Start with making a fake RED key. For it, you will require putty and molten plastic. Putty can be crafted using toothpaste and talcum powder. Create the mould and find a guard that has the red key. Beat him up, make the fake key using the mould, and give the key back to him.
Once you have the fake RED key, head to the west through the corridors and find the stairs that lead up to a red key door. Use co-op to gain entry to this door and inspect the moon lander inside the room. Find the item hidden inside, take it to a safe area, and store it. Now for the next part of the plan, you need to gather some items.
You will require a circuit board, a radio receiver, and sheers. With all the items in hand including the item from the moon lander, head south of the roll call area and find the power room that is least guarded. From here, turn off the power which will make the contraband detector useless. Now head up the stairs and you will end up in a very low-security area. Here you must cut through the two chain link fences with the power off.
Get to the ship and start repairing it using all the items that you collected. Once the ship is fully repaired, you will escape from the prison.
Second Escape is I’m only human and it is a solo escape plan. For this escape plan, start with increasing your Intel till 60. You will also require a fake pass, a RED and CYAN fake key and civilian clothes. For the fake pass, find some ink and feather and craft one.
For the RED and CYAN keys you will need a mould. For the mould, you will need putty and molten plastic. Putty can be made with toothpaste and talcum powder. When you beat up the guards for their CYAN and RED cards, steal a fake security pass and a uniform from them. For the civilian clothes, find the maintenance man’s desk on the surface level.
You will require a CYAN key for the maintenance man’s desk. When you are ready to escape, build your fake cards by beating up guards, wear the guard uniform and head to the surface. Once there, head towards the south west corner of the map and find the room with a lot of locked rooms. Here, change into civilian clothes near the security camera and equip your pass in the active item slot. When you reach the door, press E and you will escape through this door.
This The Escapists 2 Area 17 Prison Guide is currently a work in progress. We will continue to update this guide as we find more data about the escape plans.

How do I steal a key from a police officer without him knowing?Bobo, Mar 8, 2017
Answer from: Arfanji
You knock him down, steal the key, have a putty or something like( little brown thing made of toothpaste and powder) Then craft that key with the puddy you made. You will have a copy of that key in that puddy. Give the key back to the officer. Then craft the puddy key with molten plastic crafted from lighter + comb, toothbrush, fork, spoon
Answer from: TheEscapist27
First, craft Putty (Talcum Powder + Toothpaste). After that, craft Molten Plastic (easiest way is Lighter + Plastic Spoon, though you can craft them using other Plastic Cutlery or a Toothbrush/Comb. You cannot craft Molten Plastic using Cutlery in PC). Once you have these, beat up the guard, take the key, craft a Key Mold (Key + Putty) then craft the Plastic Key (has a limited no. of uses, Key Mold + Molten Plastic) then voila; you have a Plastic Key with the corresponding color of the original key (that you have to put back in the guard's inventory).
Note: You can knock out the guard, take his key and make the Key Mold immediately then making the Molten Plastic later; the steps I told you is not mandatory to get a key. Be careful about beating up all of the guards! It may cause a lockdown or a Prison Takeover (the Takeover is easy but it feels like you didn't put any effort, since the main gate is opened). Guards with a low opinion (colored red) of you will take down Posters and Bed Sheets, so be careful. It may sound complicated, but it's easy.
Answer from: Trolobro
1. knock out guard
2. take key and craft with putty(toothpaste + talcium powder)
3. IMPORTANT! put key back
4. take crafted item (key mold)with molten plastic (lighter + comb or toothbrush)

NOTICE: there is no white key and the key can be used four times before broken

If you plan on making a clean getaway in The Escapists 2, you’ll need to obtain guard keys to unlock and access certain parts of the prison. Of course, you can’t just take a guard’s key without facing consequences, so you’ll have to make a duplicate for yourself. This guide will briefly explain how to copy guard keys in The Escapists 2 to get the Plastic Keys required for your escape plan.
Before attempting to steal a guard’s key in The Escapists 2, you’ll need to do a bit of planning first. Each key in The Escapists 2 is color coded based on type. Different parts of the prison require specific colored keys. Here’s how each key color breaks down:
Each guard will have a certain colored key, but it’s not the same for everyone. It’s important to note which guards have which keys in your game so that you can know where to find the keys you need later.
To know which guard has which keys, simply knock them out and search their inventory. Don’t take the key yet, though. If the guard wakes up and finds their key missing, you’ll be punished. Once you’ve seen which key a guard has, its icon should appear on the map for easy tracking.
To duplicate a guard key, you’ll need both a Key Mold and Molten Plastic. For the key mold, you’ll need a Wad of Putty, which can be crafted out of a Tub of Talcum Powder and a Tube of Toothpaste.
Once you have a Wad of Putty in your inventory, the next step is to briefly take a key from a guard. The putty is used for making an impression of the key, giving you a Key Mold to craft a duplicate guard key.
Find a guard who has the key that you need, and lure them away from the infirmary. Knock them out, then quickly search their pockets for their key. In the Crafting menu, put the Wad of Putty and the Guard Key in the crafting slots and press Craft. This will create a Key Mold of that specific guard key. Now, quickly return the original key back into the guard’s pockets before they wake up.
In the event that the guard is sent to the infirmary before you’ve replaced the key, drop the key on the ground and go hide in a locker or somewhere safe. Wait until the coast is clear and your heat level has gone down.
You’re almost ready to create a duplicate guard key. All you need now is Molten Plastic to pour into your new Key Mold. To create Molten Plastic, collect either a Comb or a Toothbrush, and craft it together with one Lighter.
Now, simply craft the Molten Plastic with the Key Mold you made earlier to create a new Plastic Key. You will also need to have a certain level of Intelligence to successfully craft a Plastic Key. Make sure to hide the duplicate in the Hidden Compartment inside your desk to ensure it doesn’t get taken.
Plastic Keys will loose durability as you use them, meaning you can only use a single Plastic Key to open doors about 10 times before it will break. The duplicate cannot be used for making another mold, so you’ll have to repeat the process again if you want another Plastic Key.
That’s it! Now that you know how to get guard keys and craft Plastic Keys in The Escapists 2, you have everything you need to access various doors and areas throughout the prison. While planning your escape, you may also want to note all of the prison routines in The Escapists 2.Load Comments

Nab 4 forks from the canteen Cutlery Tray. Plastic forks are one of the easiest item to get, and you'll be using them a lot during your escape.
Craft a Bed Dummy. To trick the guards at night, you'll need to make it look like you are in bed when, in reality, you really aren't. A Bed Dummy can be crafted with two pillows and a bed sheet in the crafting menu; press 9 on PC, or UP on PS4, XB1 to open it.
Find duct tape and a magazine. Duct tape is arguably the most useful item in the game and can be used to craft lots of useful items. Rolls of duct tape and magazines can be found by searching inmates' desks, buying off inmates, or looting downed inmates.
Craft a poster. A poster can be crafted with a magazine and a roll of duct tape. You'll need the poster for later.
Do your job (default job: janitor). You don't want to accrue any extra Guard Heat, because you're already planning the escape.
Dispose of the wall block. Flush it down another inmates toilet.
Create a Cup of Molten Chocolate. A Cup of Molten Chocolate is an item used to one-shot a guard. Create it with a lighter, a cup, and a bar of chocolate. All 3 can be found by looting, stealing from desks, or buying.
Get your intellect up to 80. Your intellect determines what you can and can't craft. To craft plastic keys, your intellect has to be 80. Read in the library until your intellect is 80. Shower once your Fatigue gets to 100 or your Energy gets to 0.
Find the guard with the cell key. The guard with the cell key will always be the first one on the naming screen. Feel free to name him Officer Cell or something that will help you remember.
Use the Cup of Molten Chocolate on the guard with the cell key. Get your molten plastic and putty, corner him, hover over him, and right click/press X/Square to knock him out. Quickly take his key off him and combine the Cell Key with the wad of putty to make a key mold. Use the molten plastic to make a Plastic Cell Key. Loot his outfit and baton, if you can. Put the Cell Key back on the guard, or you will be sent to Solitary Confinement immediately after he wakes up.
Do the exact same thing on the guard with the red key (Staff Key). Craft another Cup of Molten Chocolate and Putty + Plastic, knock him out, make a Plastic Staff Key, take his outfit and baton off him, and put the Staff Key back on him.
Craft one more poster. Nab 4 more plastic forks from the Cutlery Tray, and head back to the library.
Take off the poster, and chip away at the Metal Shop wall until it breaks. Flush the wall block down another inmate's toilet and put a poster on the Metal Shop wall. Now, unless circumstances forbid, you have an unlimited supply of metal. Put the poster concealing the corridor back as well.
Craft a Contraband Pouch. These smuggle contraband past the metal detectors. You need a roll of duct tape and foil. Foil can be found by looting inmates, stealing from desks, or buying off inmates. However, Contraband Pouches only last for 5 times before they break.
Collect an Exotic Feather and a Jar of Ink. These are crucial for your escape. They cannot be crafted, but they can be looted/stolen/bought off inmates.
Using timber, make a lot of timber braces (Timber + Timber). The braces are used to support your tunnel you dig. If the tunnel is too long, you have to put a brace in it.
Get ready. The escape starts soon! And find some food. Stash it in the tunnel.
