The slayer helmet is a single item worn in the head slot that combines multiple pieces of protective and beneficial slayer gear. It may be assembled after a player spends 400 Slayer reward points to learn how to craft one. In addition, it requires level 55 Crafting and level 35 Slayer, which is also needed to complete the pre-requisite quest Smoking Kills. When worn, the helmet provides the special effects of all of the Slayer equipment that it was made from. Masked earmuffs will not work when crafting the slayer helmet; they must first be disassembled.

After an update on 8 February2010, the slayer helmet can be upgraded to the full slayer helmet by combining it with a hexcrest and a focus sight. Similar to the black mask, these improve magic and range accuracy by 12.5% during slayer tasks. Hexcrests are dropped by Jungle Strykewyrms (73 Slayer required) and focus sights are dropped by Desert Strykewyrms (77 Slayer required).

Assembling the helmet

If a player were to use only one slayer master, the minimum number of tasks needed to be completed to earn the points required is as follows (this includes the 4 no-point tasks, and excludes any special task):

One way to decrease the time it takes to get 400 points is by doing 9 low-level tasks, and on the 10th completing a harder slayer master's task.

After unlocking the ability to make the helmet, a message appears in the chat window stating: The secret is yours. You can now combine a black mask, face mask, spiny helm, nosepeg and earmuffs into one useful item.

The items used to make the slayer helmet are:

  • An uncharged Black Mask, which gives a 12.5% Melee damage boost and 12.5% Melee accuracy bonus against the player's current slayer assignment.
  • A pair of earmuffs, which deafens the screams of banshees
  • A face mask, which allows the player to breathe in smoky dungeons
  • A nose peg, which blocks the aberrant spectres' stench
  • A spiny helmet, which protects the player from wall beasts when traversing the Lumbridge Swamp Caves

All of the aforementioned items are required to craft the helmet, as well as a Crafting level of 55 (cannot be assisted)[1]. The helmet retains the abilities of all the items used to make it. It still gives the effect that the black mask does, but with better defence and bonuses, making it one of the best helms for slayer assignments.

For a player to construct the helmet, they must use one item on another if all the necessary items are in the player's inventory. The quest Smoking Kills is required to make the slayer helmet, and therefore must be completed before the Slayer helmet can be crafted, and worn. After being made, the slayer helmet may be disassembled and reassembled at any time.

The assist system cannot be used to make the slayer helmet although boosts may be used.[1]

The slayer helmet costs 1,592,420 coins assuming all the components are bought from the Grand Exchange.

The Slayer helmet is a single item worn in the head slot that combines multiple pieces of protective and beneficial Slayer gear. It may be assembled after a player spends 400 Slayer reward points to learn how to craft one, additionally requiring level 55 Crafting (boosts work). The attack and defensive bonuses are the same as that of a rune full helm.

When worn, the helmet provides the special effects of all of the Slayer equipment which it was made from. The slayer helmet requires 10 Defence to equip.

When worn on a slayer task, the helm provides a melee boost of 16.67% against slayer assignments. Should the player want a similar boost for ranged and magic, they must imbue it through Nightmare Zone, which is detailed below.

At the cost of 1,250,000 Nightmare Zone reward points, the Slayer helmet can be upgraded to a Slayer helmet (i), adding a 15% damage boost to both Magic and Ranged. The Slayer helmet (i) also has a +10 magic defence bonus, a +3 magic attack bonus and a +3 ranged attack bonus.

With 1,000 slayer reward points, the player can learn how to recolour the helmet (or its imbued variant) by using certain special items on it. Each recolour ability is purchased separately, meaning 5,000 slayer reward points are required to fully access all the recolours, provided the player has the items readily available. Players can disassemble the recoloured helmet to retrieve the items back.

The items that can be combined are as follows:

Slayer helm is mandatory. If you don't have that, get a black mask until you can make it. Though in order to make one, you need 55 Crafting.

This. I'm not sure why he made a point of 55 Crafting as if people still had stats under 60, but if by some divine force you do, I'm pretty sure you can assist to craft it anyway.

Save points for Slayer Helm at least: faster killing blows is also nice if you afk since just having the item in your inventory will make it work. From there if you suck too bad to get a Fire Cape you may want to buy the Ice Strykewyrms ability as well. From there Runes all the way, unless you want to make money of fletching Broad Bolts.

Do waste points on the fire cape, just get one. Killing blows is a must. I'm guessing what he means by runes are buy slayer strikes? I'm not sure why you'd tell anyone to do that? Just save points for canceling and blocking bad tasks.

Also When I get enough points to buy the slayer dart runes should I since they sell for 100k or should I just save the points for more important matters?

See what I said above. 100k is not worth the points it takes for canceling tasks.

There aren't very many things to kill that will benefit from the faster killing blow delivery.

This is awful advice considering how great and common gargoyle tasks are.

I'm combat lvl 101 should I stick with Sumona or move on to the more advanced masters?

I don't know if she's good or bad I used Chaedlar until duradal then kuradal. So that'd be my advice to you, also farm points for a task by doing 9 of the Demon guy in Canfis (forget his name) then doing the 10th on Chaedlar for fast points. Helm is insanely important to have asap.

I also feel like it's not going as fast as it could, any advice on how to speed up slayer assignments? I've already heard about the cannon but I'm hesitant to use it because so many bad memories at the green dragons.

I don't know what point you're trying to make since "bad memories at green dragons" have no nothing to do with Slayer, but cannons are a necessity for fast slaying, just make sure you use them on the correct task. That being said I don't think you'd need them until you start getting tasks worth cannoning, and I don't know what they are at lower levels but I'm talking Bloodveld, Dags, Black Demons, Specs etc etc. It's also pretty expensive, costing around 800k-1m per task, but that's nothing with the profit you make from Slayer itself.
