I retract the statement then. Maybe I'm getting a little too jaded by the hoarders and their incredible desire to catch 'em all.
It's not normal, it's strange. All those items are.

Trust me I'm not that much of a cunt. I guess it's hard to tell with that screenshot though.
I've mostly given up on trying to trade things, most weapons are worthless and any hats I get I'd rather just try and recraft.

I can't resist opening crates though, so I have tons of strange weapons that I figure it I may as well trade.
Keep in mind the google spreadsheet is not 100% accurate and should just be used as a basic guideline. There's quite a few items on there that are priced incorrectly. That said, it's updated on a regular basis and actually maintained, which is something at least.

And I'm upping my offer if anyone is interested, My G. Anger + 1 key for someone's G. Wingstick or G. Dragonborn Helm.
How much is a non genuine Original worth? No fancy craft numbers and such, just a normal one.
You can trade that vintage hatless engie for around 3-4 refined. The Capper you can probably get for around 3 refined.
I'm not entirely sure where the market for these things is, though. I don't care for sitting in a stupid trade server for hours waiting for someone to want one. I want my blasted heavy hat and I want it now but I don't want it $12 from now.
You can trade that vintage hatless engie for around 3-4 refined. The Capper you can probably get for around 3 refined.
Wow, where are you trading them, that you get so good prices? I get always offers that are much lower than in the google spreadsheet, and when i say, they should offer more, they leave
Yeah, I'm really getting exhausted with the "I'll take it off your hands for 1 Refined" people, especially when you write in the trade description "I'm not trading this hat for only 1 Refined." They literally ignore it and throw their trash offer at you anyway.

Silver Jews
Early Times
Drag City

Remember back when Silver Jews were just a Pavement side project? You know, like how Sebadoh was a Dinosaur Jr. side project? Well, the folks at Drag City have graciously released a compilation of the first few Silver Jews releases, which contains “all of the songs from ‘Dime Map of the Reef’ and The Arizona Record and none of the songs not on them.” The reissue, aptly named Early Times (like the vile Kentucky whiskey), contains some bright inkling of what would come in future releases by prolific main man David Berman and a time-stamped picture of the lo-fi pop jazzbo Stephen Malkmus would come to be indie famous for. This is a young band attempting to sound like themselves with absolutely no desire to sound like anyone else at all. If those first few Pavement records weren’t hissy enough for Malkmus, he would find his outlet here on static-attacked songs like “Canada,” where whoever is drumming is more off time than Gary Young at his wildest, and “September 1999,” where Malkmus was maybe wondering what he’d be doing if Pavement broke up? This is the most lo-fi Silver Jews would ever be. For a fan of Silver Jews and Pavement alike, speculative readings of lyrics always ends up leading to an alternate path of discovery and mainly to a new personal meaning beyond that of what either songwriter even meant. This is why Berman would be able to write records like Bright Flight and publish his words like a real poet, and why Malkmus would find such success with Pavement. The lyric-centered songs, written through pure craft by obfuscating a specific incident or describing a scene with such pinpoint accuracy as to remove all contexts, will always seem more prodigious to the listener (as opposed to the writer). There’s so much to look for when you’re on the receiving end. Maybe they’re just explaining exactly how it was.

In the case of Early Times, I like to think Berman, Malkmus and Bobby Nastanovich got high on cheap whiskey and jug wine in the kitchen with a tape recorder. With a vocal mic hooked up to an amp, they just recorded whatever lyrical vomit Malkmus hurled out the top of his head or plucked along on guitar to Berman’s balladry in the most genuine way that only these three capable musicians could. Maybe there’s a rehearsed song, evidenced in the dueling duet vocals on “Secret Knowledge of Back Roads” or “I Love the Rights.” But songs like “SVM F.T. TROOPS” obviously just follow Malkmus’s lead into oblivion, and “THE Unchained Melody” is really just a snippet of what might have been a full-on Pavement anthem. “The War in Apartment 1812” is a clear indicator of the path the Silver Jews would take in the future, a volume-pumper so screechingly hissy that you have to activate the Dolby button on your cassette player to walk away with your cilia intact.

There’s plenty here to extrapolate or explicate, but it will take many listens to clear it up and get it right. Early Times is the sound of visionary rockers having fun, writing songs just for the sake of writing songs. It doesn’t play out like a full piece, but all the pieces are there. Oh how I wish I had bought “Dime Map of the Reef” (mythically thought to have been recorded on an answering machine) when I first saw it, but in my teenaged wisdom, I passed it up for a Built to Spill record. Silver Jews has much more staying power, and though Early Times is just a blink of a glimpse at the infinitely relistenable body of work the band generated, it is also a sincere picture of the origins of some of the best rock in the past 20 years.

As TF2 continues its transformation into a strange hybrid of Pokemon and ultra-death, another game has revealed exclooooosive in-game items for willing pre-orderers.

In this instance, it’s Total War: Shogun 2 or Shotgun: Total War 2 or Total Shogun 2: War or whatever the hell the naming order is now. There are eight different hats and Japanese-themed killing tools to be had if you punt some money Steam’s way for CA’s upcoming RTS, and they’re available as of today. Looks like you can also buy them separately if you like, too. How many hats are in the game now? All the hats, I guess.

The full list of items and a couple more pics are below, hat-fans.
HATS

THE DREAD KNOT…a samurai topknot for the Heavy
THE SAMUR-EYE…a kabuto helmet for the Demo Man
THE GEISHA BOY… a geisha hairdo for the Medic
THE NOH MERCY…a terrifying oni mask for the Spy

WEAPONS

THE HALF-ZATOICHI…a Level 5 Katana for the Demo Man and Soldier
THE CONCHEROR…a Level 5 Sashimono for the Soldier
CONNIVER’S KUNAI…a Level 1 Kunai for the Spy
THE FAN O’WAR…a Level 5 Gunbai for the Scout

Not everyone who uses noh mercy is a weeb, it goes quite well with one of the suit improvements and killer exclusive. Well, at least I may be the single damn.

4 days ago, the TF2 Beta received a pretty impressive update, packing some pretty dazzling additions and changes. First and foremost, you can now create your own class loadout presets. There’s 4 slots for your presets: A, B, C and D. Great stuff! Finally, I can have multiple item configurations for multiple gameplay situations – defense, offense, or the “obnoxious hat display” strategy. That one’s my favorite, as I’m sure you could extrapolate.

And, most importantly, we can now equip more than one Miscellaneous item. Sadly, there’s only two slots, and not three. But hey, it is something! And it’s just the Beta – perhaps a third Misc slot awaits when the update is added to the main game? The Foster’s Facade and the Noh Mercy now both use the Misc slot. And, god bless, the Pyro can now use the Reserve Shooter. It fits the Pyro surprisingly well, particularly since it was originally designed for the Pyro. Let’s hope it’s added to the Engineer and Heavy too, as it really does fit with those classes as well. I’d also like to see the Family Business be added to the Engineer, Pyro, and Soldier, but maybe that’s just asking too much. That’s not all in this update – there’s been a number of various alterations and gameplay changes – check everything out at the Official TF2 Wiki.

And that’s not all going on in the TF2 world as of late – remember PC Gamer’s exclusive TF2 hat: “The Killer Exclusive”? It’s on its way, and it will be featured in PC Gamer UK Issue #232, with an exclusive, but free activation code for the hat inside the magazine. Will the US magazine get it? I have no idea, but hey, you can always trade, craft, wait for a drop, or buy it from the store when it arrives in non-Genuine form one month afterwards. Me, personally? Look at that thing. I’m definitely going to try and get it in Genuine quality. Here’s the TF2 Wiki’s page on the hat.

But there’s also rumblings of a new, bigger update, containing the stuff that was cut out of the Uber Update. Here’s a thread devoted entirely to that subject, and here’s a pretty insightful post from a completely different thread. What is this stuff for? Probably the Halloween update, if you ask me. Yes, yes, it’s gonna be a big one! Raid Mode, here we come. Assuming you still exist. Well, more like “desperately hoping you still exist”.
